Clevedon Pier is a Victorian Pier situated on the east shore of the Severn Estuary and is Britain’s only Grade I listed Pier. It is over 150 years old, meaning that it needs to be carefully maintained to protect it, costing us over £125,000 in a typical year. We need to raise funds to help maintain the Pier, so that it can be enjoyed by future generations.
Your will is the only way to ensure that your wishes are carried out. After you have taken care of your friends and family, you may wish to consider leaving a gift to the places and charities that have meant most to you. Remembering Clevedon Pier in your will allows us to continue to maintain the Pier itself, our Glass Box restaurant, Pagoda café and gift shop, for future generations.
A gift in your will can also be beneficial in terms of the tax paid by your estate. Under the rules since 2012, the rate of inheritance tax has been reduced from 40% to 36% if you leave at least 10% of your estate to charity. We recommend that you take advice from your solicitor when making or revising your will.
If you have already made a will, it is easy to make a small change to it with a simple codicil. If you haven’t made a will yet or wish to rewrite your existing will, a solicitor can help you do this.
