Registered Charity No: 234434 (England & Wales).

The Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Poor was founded in France in 1839 by Saint Jeanne Jugan, a woman of deep faith and compassion who dedicated her life to caring for the elderly poor. Her mission was simple yet profound - to offer a loving home to those in need, regardless of race, creed or background.

In 1851, the Sisters came to England, where their mission spread across the country. Today, nine Homes in the UK and Ireland continue to provide a sanctuary of comfort, dignity and care for the elderly of modest means.

From the beginning, Jeanne was known for her humility and her begging basket - going door to door to seek help for “her dear old people.” That same spirit lives on today. Our Sisters still make daily visits to local businesses, markets, parishes and stores, asking for donations to sustain the Homes and meet the growing needs of our residents.

As Government funding for elderly care diminishes, our mission depends more than ever on the kindness and generosity of our benefactors. Every offering, donation and legacy gift helps bridge the gap between modest pensions and the true cost of providing quality care. Each contribution - no matter the size - directly supports our residents and keeps Jeanne Jugan’s legacy of compassion alive.

Our goal is to ensure that every person entrusted to our care enjoys the highest possible quality of life - one marked by comfort, security and respect for the challenges of ageing.

Together, with your help, we continue to bring hope, dignity and love to those who once had so little - just as Jeanne Jugan did over 180 years ago.
