Registered Charity No: 1124512 (England & Wales).

The Solicitors’ Charity (formerly known as the Solicitors Benevolent Association), is an independent charity working at the heart of the legal profession for over 160 years. It supports solicitors both past and present, their families and dependants who are in serious financial need as a result of illness, accident, redundancy or other adversity.

The charity provides welfare grants, support with career transition and access to advice on welfare benefits and managing personal debt. It typically supports those who do not have the resources to pay for the normal things in life which most people take for granted.

Relying on the generosity of solicitors, law firms and local law societies, the charity encourages donations but also highlights that it offers an indemnity against any transfer of residual client balances ensuring they can always be refunded if they are reclaimed.

The Solicitors’ Charity offers many opportunities for those in the legal profession to raise awareness of its cause including volunteering for the charity, fundraising or simply telling a friend about what the charity does and how it can help those in times of need or crisis.
