Multinational firm Fieldfisher today confirmed that it has lodged a claim against disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein in the High Court of England and Wales. The claim, against Weinstein, the Weinstein Company UK Ltd and the Weinstein Company LLC in the US, seeks damages for personal injury of at least £300,000.

According to the claim form, the client is seeking damages ’for personal injury, expenses, consequential loss including aggravated and exemplary damages and interest arising out of a series of sexual assaults’.

The form states that the claimant ’claims damages for personal injury expected to exceed £300,000 but is not limited’.

The firm also applied for an anonymity order on behalf of its client.

Jill Greenfield, partner, and head of Fieldfisher’s serious injury sector, said that she had been instructed by her client less than a month ago and had to act swiftly to protect her client’s ability to bring a claim so many years after the assault.

She said she would not be surprised if a group action against the film producer followed.

Weinstein has unequivocally denied all allegations of non-consensual sex.
