Blood-Halvorsen is the independent practice of Ashley Blood-Halvorsen TEP, providing specialist barrister and mediation services.
Barrister Services
Ashley is a specialist chancery and property barrister and Trust and Estate Practitioner. Called to the Bar in 2017, she spent nearly eight years at a traditional set of chambers before establishing Blood-Halvorsen in July 2026.
She accepts instructions from solicitors and other authorised professional clients. Her work includes contentious probate and challenges to wills; claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975; disputes involving estates and trusts; TOLATA and beneficial ownership claims; proprietary estoppel; boundaries, easements and rights of way; residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters; and personal insolvency, particularly where it overlaps with probate.
Ashley represented the successful applicant at trial in Kars v Brown & Ors [2026]EWHC 31 (Fam). She also acted for the ultimately successful claimants during the earlier stages of Ginger & Ors v Mickleburgh & Ors [2026] EWHC 100 (Ch), drafting the particulars of claim and representing them at the costs and case management conference.
Her practice is built around close, collaborative working with solicitors. Ashley invests in long-term professional relationships and works as part of the team around the client, while retaining the independent judgement expected of counsel. She clerks herself, so solicitors deal directly with her about the case, availability, fees and timescales.
A former senior clerk once described Ashley as ‘the most normal barrister’ he had clerked. She took it as a compliment. Solicitors and clients find her approachable, direct and easy to work with.
Mediation Services
Ashley is a CMC Registered Mediator and an ADR Group Accredited Civil and Commercial Mediator. She accepts appointments in disputes involving wills, inheritance, trusts, estates, co-ownership, land, landlord and tenant matters, family assets and related civil claims.
Ashley combines careful legal analysis with empathy, patience and an ability to build rapport. She gives parties space to explain what is driving the dispute, including the personal history and emotion behind their stated positions, while keeping discussions focused on what can realistically be achieved.
Her approach is warm, plain-speaking and pragmatic. She helps parties test their positions, understand the risks and costs of litigation, and explore practical terms capable of resolving the dispute.
Mediations are offered for an agreed fixed fee and may take place in person or remotely.
