Rachael Hobbis has joined Higgs & Sons as a partner after 10 years with national law firm Shakespeare Martineau. She has experience in both construction procurement and dispute resolution methods such as adjudication.

The move comes as Higgs & Sons completes the unification of its commercial and residential property teams, creating one of the largest specialist teams in the region.

'Rachael has significant experience in working with a wide spectrum of property professionals across a range of sectors,' said Cherry Elliott, head of property services at Higgs & Sons.

'The newly unified practice group at Higgs offers expertise in all aspects of commercial and residential property. Rachael’s appointment has bolstered particularly the residential and commercial development offering we can now provide and she will be a significant addition to our team.'

Highly experienced in dispute resolution, Rachael will also support the work of Higgs’ dispute resolution and litigation team.

'Rachael brings a great deal in terms of her contentious construction experience,' said Julia Lowe, head of dispute resolution and litigation. 'Working collaboratively across teams enables us to offer a comprehensive service to our clients and Rachael’s appointment will enhance our ability to offer a holistic response in terms of contentious construction matters.'

Rachael, is a visiting lecturer at Birmingham City University having previously lectured at Aston University. She is also a past Chair of the Black Country Centre for Constructing Excellence.

She said: 'I am looking forward to being part of the Higgs team as it continues to grow. I will be able to support my colleagues throughout the firm and the needs of clients across all sectors in the region and beyond, utilising my extensive commercial experience of working in the construction industry and expertise to achieve clients’ goals.'
