Entertainment lawyer and producer Kami Naghdi has joined entertainment and media firm Clintons. Kami was previously a partner at the London office of an international law firm where he represented leading directors, financiers and producers.

Unusually for an entertainment lawyer, he took a six-year break from practising law and produced eight feature films with directors such as Bille August, Werner Herzog and Sharon Maguire and cast including Christian Bale, Ewan McGregor, Michelle Williams, Stellan Skarsgard and Amanda Seyfried.

Prior to embarking on his producing career Kami had represented Woody Allen’s entities in the production, financing and exploitation of Match point, sales agent HanWay Films and investment bank Close Bros in its studio co-financing arrangements.

Kami said: ‘Clintons offers my clients an array of top-class expertise. I have admired their work in music, theatre, digital media, brand management and advertising for many years. The opportunities for crossover and adaptations between the various media has become a key factor to exploiting intellectual property in this sector.

‘Films are made into stage musicals, ballet, concerts and sports events are exhibited live in cinemas and every filmmaker wants to speak to Netflix. With more investment coming into the market, these are exciting times for our entrepreneurial clients.’

Andrew Myers, head of Clintons’ commercial and entertainment department, added: ‘We are really delighted that Kami has joined us. He brings a wealth of commercial and legal experience and expertise in the film and television sector and his practice is a great fit for us and for our entertainment and media clients.’

Clintons is an award-winning boutique law firm, based in Covent Garden in Central London. It is a market leader in the entertainment, digital media and creative industries and is highly regarded for its family, litigation, property and corporate work.
