Ashtons Legal has recruited partner Natalie Cosgrove and paralegal Amelia Dale to its medical negligence team in Yorkshire.

Dual qualified Cosgrove, who holds higher rights of audience, is accredited by the Law Society and holds senior litigator status with the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.

She specialises in baby loss and birth injury claims having worked with many families in Nottingham whose maternity services are currently being reviewed by midwife and community activist Donna Ockenden. Cosgrove also has a specialist interest in more nuanced areas of law including secondary victims, assault and battery, involuntary participants, and suicide resulting from negligent mental health care.

She is the chair of trustees of Sheffield Mencap and Gateway, and has sat as an executive member of the Society of Clinical Injury Lawyers. She also sits on the advisory board of Sheffield University Law School and is a committee member of Access to Justice Foundation Yorkshire.

Cosgrove and Dale have worked alongside each other for the past five years.

Ashtons medical negligence team head Sharon Allison commented: 'We are delighted to welcome Natalie and Amelia to the team. They both clearly share our ethos of always doing the best for the client, whatever their injury or circumstances. The strength and depth that these appointments brings to the team will help to further enhance our first class offering to our clients who have experienced significant trauma'.

She added: 'Bringing a third partner and a new paralegal into the team will enable us to continue to expand the number of medically and catastrophically injured people we are able to help each year and to further our work in campaigning for improved patient safety'.
