Leading City law firm Devonshires has promoted two solicitors, Saghar Roya and Tom Keya, to partner.

Saghar (pictured) joined the firm in 2010 and acts for a vast number of registered providers (RPs) including most G320 members. Her broad knowledge and experience includes advising on all aspects of the securitisation process in the charging of security under varying loan facilities, private placements and bonds ranging from £1m to £250m.

As well as working closely with RPs to maximise and uplift the value of their existing property portfolios, Saghar also heads up the smaller registered providers sub-department, which works exclusively with smaller RPs to provide a more bespoke service, advising on all their securitisation matters.

She said: ‘I am very excited about this new opportunity and am thoroughly looking forward to working with the partners to take the business forward and build upon our success to date.’

Tom Keya has been working with Devonshires since 2009. He advises corporate, public and private clients on contentious and non-contentious commercial matters. His clients vary from EU-based individuals and companies and international and multinational clients with a particular focus on Africa, the Middle East, and the US, particularly in New York, UAE, Nigeria, Angola and South Africa. He has advised banks and other commercial entities on high-value disputes.

Tom also leads Devonshire’s basements practice, which provides legal and professional advice to developers, private individuals, local authorities and old estates in relation to the construction and opposition of basements.

His practice ranges from prime locations across London, including Belgravia, Mayfair and Knightsbridge, to large commercial basements throughout the UK.

He said: ‘I’m looking forward to working with our experienced and energetic partner team as we use the strengths we have gathered in our core areas to develop into new markets and industries. I am particularly excited about increasing the firm’s already strong foothold international.’

Senior partner Andrew Cowan said: ‘We have strengthened our team with promotions in these key areas, as we continue to focus on our client relationships. Their outstanding individual performances have helped us to meet client demand and I wish both Saghar and Tom every success in their new roles.’
