Specialist employment practice Abel Brown has merged with commercial law firm Excello Law. Headed by Louise Brown, who set up the practice in 2000, the merger will see Louise and her team - Anthony Robinson, Charlotte Cecil, Navraj Rai and Vanessa Wheeler - bring additional strength to Excello’s employment law services.

Louise is an employment solicitor with over 22 years’ experience including 15 years as a sole practitioner. She acts for both employers and employees and has particular expertise in discrimination on behalf of claimants in the Employment Tribunal, Employment Appeal Tribunal, High Court and Court of Appeal.

Anthony Robinson qualified as a barrister in 1988 (now non-practising) and was admitted as a solicitor in 2000. He has extensive experience in employment, equality, public and human rights law. Anthony spent five years at the Equality and Human Rights Commission as director of casework and litigation.

Charlotte Cecil qualified in 2004 and has previously worked in the employment teams of Collyer Bristow, Cumberland Ellis and Levenes, before becoming a consultant solicitor in 2012. Navraj Rai qualified in 2009 and has worked for ELS Solicitors and MTA Corporate Solicitors, building considerable experience in representing and litigating against employers and employees.

Vanessa Wheeler qualified in 2008 and has gained particular expertise in complex discrimination cases with a specialist interest in maternity discrimination and flexible working.

Louise Brown commented: ‘The merger of my firm with Excello Law will bring immeasurable benefits to the team. The administrative challenges will be eased, as will the regulatory burden I carried in running my own firm.

‘It is very exciting for us to be part of a firm with such a great reputation and it will enable us all to focus on our service to clients and attract new business.’
