Ruth Heap has become the 12th partner at fast-growing law firm Hillyer McKeown.

Ruth, who joined Hillyer McKeown in 2011, recently qualified as a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) after four years of study.

She is one of a select group in the north-west to be given membership of the worldwide professional association aimed at those responsible for handling family inheritance and succession planning matters.

The STEP membership means that clients are assured that everything the Hillyer McKeown wills, trusts and estates department does complies with the organisation’s rigorous code of conduct.

Hillyer McKeown, which employs 72 people across its four offices in Chester, Liverpool, Wirral and Deeside, provides clients with a comprehensive range of business and personal legal services.

The firm is led by managing partner Steve Harvey.

He said: ‘Ruth has proven herself to be an exceptional lawyer and head of our wills, trusts and estates team during her time with Hillyer McKeown and her promotion is richly deserved.

‘We want to attract and retain the best legal talent in the region and, in order to do so, it is important we are seen to be rewarding success.’
