Oxfordshire-based commercial law practice, BrookStreet des Roches LLP, is delighted to announce the appointment of Philip Shaw as managing partner as of 1 April 2018. Philip succeeds Hugh Blaza who has held the position since 2008.

Philip, who previously led the firm’s dispute resolution team, brings with him 25 years of experience and knowledge.

Philip said: ’Having been with BrookStreet des Roches since its foundation in 1994, I have been very privileged to be part of the success story that has seen the firm grow from a three-partner niche commercial property practice employing 13 staff to the thriving commercial law firm that it is today, with 15 partners and 60 staff. I am surrounded by loyal staff and lawyers who are leaders in their fields. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this unique firm and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead. I wish to thank Hugh for his many years of guidance and acknowledge the key role he has played in taking this firm to a position where it is recognised as a national leader with a reputation for excellence’

Hugh said: ’I’ve enjoyed every minute of my tenure as managing partner but it’s now time to pass on the baton and I have every confidence in the energy and dedication that Philip will bring to the role.’

Hugh will be working alongside Philip over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition and taking on the role of senior partner. Katy Kirk, who leads the firm’s real estate litigation team will expand her role to include leading the dispute resolution team.
