The College of Law has launched an alumni association for the estimated 125,000-plus would-be lawyers who have studied there over the past 45 years.
The college was founded in May 1962 through the merger of the Law Society's School of Law and the tutorial firm Gibson and Weldon. As well as solicitors, it trained bar students until 1978 and began doing so again in 1997.
Famous alumni include the two current chairs of the main political parties - solicitor Hazel Blears, a candidate for the Labour deputy leadership, and Tory barrister Francis Maude - Cherie Booth QC, Lord Falconer, Carol Thatcher, and Olympic gold medal rower Jonny Searle.
Professor Nigel Savage, the college's chief executive, said: 'The association is designed to connect all former students and staff of the college to a unique professional network. It will provide a great opportunity for former students to catch up with old friends, students, tutors and colleagues - and to make new professional connections.'
A launch event will be held at the Law Society on 10 October.
