70s-something

Over the years, Obiter has happily featured law firms getting ever so excited about a range of B, C and T-list celebrities, but this week we have one that stands alone in the pantheon of great minor personalities.

Home counties firm Charles Lucas & Marshall is taking part in an Arts & Business-funded training course with The Watermill Theatre, which will see lawyers at the firm receive training from actors to improve their communication skills.

This is pretty interesting anyway, but not compared with the special ceremony at Meridian Television Centre on the south-coast where the funding grants were handed out.

No less a celebrity than Fred Dinenage was on hand to press the flesh with Hemant Amin of Charles Lucas & Marshall (left), and Susan Foster and Jill Fraser (both from the theatre).

Fred was pretty well known for being a 'World of Sport' presenter on ITV in the 1970s, but was yet more famous to children of the era.

This lyric may jog your memory: 'Dum de-dum-dum, dum de-dum-dum, dum de-dum-dum, dum dum dum dum - How'.
