A soapy high note

Soap operas are often derided for the warped view of British life they portray, but 'Coronation Street' took it to new levels the other week when it featured a leading Manchester solicitor browsing the shelves at Dev's corner shop.

Graham Small, a partner at Rowe Cohen, landed an extra's role after a long-running joke with a film and television agency client that he was available at any time to appear on the small screen.

True to his word, Mr Small was off to Granada Studios as soon as he got the call, and enjoyed his few seconds of fame.

'I think I'll quit my acting career at the peak and concentrate on the law,' he tells Obiter.
