Aldred in the chair
One-time senior Law Society staff member Karen Aldred has been elected the chairwoman of the Association of Women Solicitors.
She said she wants the group to broaden its appeal to younger solicitors and its campaigning work beyond just issues of flexible working, which still remain a critical issue.
She left the Society in 1998 and now works as the non-executive director of First Title.
Meanwhile, George Harrison, who sits at Chester County Court, has been elected president of the Association of District Judges.
A former personal injury solicitor, Mr Harrison has held judicial office for 20 years.
