The first thing that often goes when solicitors seek to raise money for charity is their dignity.

The guy who ate a catfood sandwich for Comic Relief sticks in the memory, but four men from the Birmingham office of Amery-Parkes have submitted to leg and back waxes by trainee beauty therapists from the Birmingham College of Food.

This raises several questions, not least whether a college of food is the best place to recruit leg waxers.

It was all part of an effort to raise 1,000 so the guys could enter disability charity Scope's Cork Challenge later this month, which is to take four cans of Murphy's from Cardiff and deliver them in fancy dress to the Murphy's Brewery in Cork the following day, spending a maximum of 60 per team on transport and presumably not drinking the beer on the way, whatever the temptation.

At least they'll be able to glide through the water if they have to swim the Irish Sea.
