The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) has started 2008 with a rebrand in an attempt to increase public awareness of its work and create a widely recognised quality mark for claimant personal injury (PI) lawyers.
APIL chief executive Denise Kitchener said: 'We have gained recognition from our members, the profession and government and that is very pleasing, but now we want to protect our name and reputation and build on that.
'We want to create a recognisable, quality trade mark for personal injury lawyers... Over 2008 we want to continue providing information to the public and get through to new audiences.'
As part of the drive to further consumer awareness of its work, APIL will produce new leaflets for the public, providing information about their rights and responsibilities if they become injured. In addition to the 24-hour telephone helpline the organisation already runs, APIL will also publish more information on its website.
In addition to focusing on access to legal advice, Ms Kitchener also urged the government to push forward with its damages consultation paper.
