Appointment of company law committee members

Members of the Law Society's company law committee help to formulate responses to consultations on proposals for new and amendments to existing company and financial services law.

Committee members also promote improvements to law and procedure in these areas of practice.

The committee is closely involved in the government's review of company law and proposals for European legislation.

Its remit also covers the Takeover Panel, the Listing Rules, the Financial Services and Markets Act, accounting and auditing standards and insolvency law.

The committee meets on a monthly basis and, in addition, members are expected to contribute to working parties on more specialised areas, for example, directors' duties, corporate governance, company charges.

Applications are invited from lawyers with practice experience in company and financial services law, who are able to contribute positive ideas and to commit time to the heavy workload of the committee and its various working parties.

Applications are welcome from all, irrespective of sex, race, colour, age, sexuality or disability and appointments will be based on merit, following an open and clear selection process.
