Balladeers have those legal aid blues
The teaching profession has Sting.
The gravediggers have Rod Stewart.
And the legal profession? Well, up until recently one of the few flagwavers for lawyers in the music business has been DJ 'Judge' Jules - so called because he has - you guessed it - a law degree.
However, all that is about to change with blues combo The Midnighters exploding onto the Eastbourne music scene.
The duo is made up of sole practitioner David Buck (on guitar), and well-named singer and guitarist Terry Ballard, a solicitor at criminal practice Rodney Warren & Co.
The grizzled blues hounds met in the rather too respectable setting of a courtroom, where, according to Terry, 'David noticed my Dr Feelgood badge, and it just started from there'.
Indeed.
Obiter has nothing but admiration for the boys - currently appearing at an Eastbourne restaurant near you - but cannot really imagine John Lee Hooker and Muddy Waters spending their evenings croaking about their cheatin' women and dead dogs, while spending their days filling in legal aid forms.
