Nothing beats a nice day out, so hats off to the partners at west midlands firm Challinors Lyons Clark, who dug into their profits after what senior partner Trevor Lee (right) described as 'a bumper year' to revive the spirit of the school trip by taking some 115 staff to Dublin for a day.

The large numbers (only 36 or so couldn't make it and they were given the day off) may be explained by the city tour which culminated at the Guinness factory.

Despite this and unlike the school day trips of Obiter's youth - including one to Calais that ended up with three kids arrested for drunken behaviour, two mugged and one left behind - all returned present and correct in the office the following day.
