Obiter is pleased to report that those ever-energetic Hampshire lawyers completed their annual trek to the Law Society Annual Conference in aid of the Solicitors Benevolent Association.

Previous years have seen them arrive by foot, parachute and (at the Paris Disneyland conference in 1999) by London taxi, but this year - led by Hampshire Incorporated Law Society president Richard Harris (see Gazette [2003] 2 October, 14) - they were back to the trusty canoe, spending three days paddling from Hampshire to the Festival Hall steps at Westminster.

The paddlers paid particular thanks to Farnborough solicitor Charles Gordon for providing lunch on Saturday at the canal locks at Brookwood.
