Best feet forward

City firm DLA completed an amazing achievement last month - it gathered together 1,000 members of staff from across the UK and Europe, plus a few friends and family, who between them (they were broken up into 74 groups the length of the nation) walked the entire 1,150 miles from John O'Groats to Land's End in a single day, raising an amazing 500,000 for the WellChild Trust along the way.

Here the group at Land's End celebrate the fantastic effort.

An event this massive was bound to go wrong here and there, and we understand that among the mishaps one senior member of the London office walked ten miles in the wrong direction and had to catch a bus back to the start line to proceed on the correct route; a Scottish staff member was chased by a bull in the Highlands after showing the good sense to pat it; one group clocked up an extra seven miles on its stage because of a map in two halves that did not join up; while the most unfortunate member was taken to a hospital burns unit because his blisters were so bad.

Pointless activity, raging bulls, incomplete information and being pushed beyond endurance - just another average day for a solicitor.
