The Law Society Regulation Board - which, subject to the approval of the Law Society Council, is to be re-branded as the Solicitors Regulation Authority - is to launch a programme of 'regulation roadshows' across England and Wales. The aim is to ensure that solicitors understand regulatory policies and the reasoning behind them, and that the regulator appreciates the environments in which solicitors practise. Chief executive Antony Townsend said: 'Legal services and the regulatory framework are changing; we need to explore how we can protect clients and uphold high standards without strangling conscientious solicitors with unnecessary requirements.'
The first roadshow will be held at Manchester Town Hall on 3 October.

Subsequent events will be held in Birmingham, the south-west of England, and south Wales.
