Insolvency: Denton Wilde Sapte earns law firm of the year title

City giant Allen & Overy has topped the charts for company turnaround and restructuring work - but Denton Wilde Sapte earned the title 'insolvency law firm of the year', according to a guide published last month.The ratings appeared in New City Media's Corporate Rescue and Insolvency Guide, which split its listings for turnaround and insolvency for the first time to reflect a drop in formal insolvency arrangements.Although Allen & Overy took the turnaround top-slot for its 'excellent work in central Europe and Russia', there was serious competition for the title, according to the guide.

CMS Cameron McKenna, Denton Wilde Sapte, Freshfields and Linklaters & Alliance were listed as firms to watch for corporate rescue expertise.Described as the 'best insolvency practice bar none', Denton Wilde Sapte was said to have 'strength in depth' allied to restructuring know-how and a strong litigation capability.

Ones to watch here are Davies Arnold Cooper, DLA, Edge Ellison and Stephenson Harwood.Individual five-star ratings for turnaround and restructuring work (London and global) went to Mark Andrews at Dentons, Robert Elliott at Linklaters, James Johnson at Clifford Chance and Nick Segal and Gordon Stewart at A&O.

Mark Andrews of Dentons and A&O's Gordon Stewart took the guide's five-star rating for insolvency work in London and globally.US firm Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft's Yvette Croucher was rated top up-and-coming individual insolvency practitioner by the guide.
