Call for lawyers to join coalition to stop war with Iraq
Lawyers are being urged to join a coalition to launch legal action aimed at halting military action against Iraq.
'Legal Action Against the War' was founded this month by a group of peace campaigners.
The organisation is looking to recruit lawyers with experience in constitutional law.
It hopes to force a judicial review of the government's actions.
'The International Criminal Court Act 2001 makes it a criminal offence for a British national to commit or be associated with crimes against humanity or war crimes,' said organiser Chris Coverdale.
'No one is above this law, and if a single Iraqi loses their life as a result of illegitimate military action by British forces, then every individual associated with the killing will be subject to criminal prosecution.'
