I am doomed. I have seen the end of my firm and the Grim Reaper is Halifax Legal Solutions (see [2006] Gazette, 2 November, 1). What property owner could resist a fixed fee of £389? I will be recommending the facility to any client with a difficult property.

What a wonderful thing to have deep pockets, so there will he no worries if the whole of the conveyancing has to be subsidised, because at that price it is absolutely clear to me that the service will not pay for itself.

On the other hand, of course, clients will get what they pay for, but I do wonder whether cheap will also be cheerful.
