City firms are falling short when it comes to the usability of their Web sites, according to a forthcoming report by research company Intendance.

Due for release in mid-May, Intendance's annual report on the Web sites of the UK's 50 fastest-growing law firms will reveal that of the 15 City firms (not including magic circle firms) examined, eight ended up in the bottom ten.

Only one City firm made it into the top ten for usability - or how easy it is to find information.

James Tuke, who prepares the report for Intendance, said: 'When many other firms are getting to grips with Web site usability, it is disappointing to find that the City mid-tier and smaller City firms are falling so far behind in this category.'

Scottish firm Brodies came top of the usability category in Intendance's Fast 50 survey last year, with regional firm Shoosmiths second. Another Scottish firm, Shepherd & Wedderburn, came third.

The Gazette will reveal the report's full findings in its 18 May management section.
