Colourful toy story

A certain English manufacturer of soft toys must have wished its metre- long cuddly chameleons could have emulated their natural counterparts by changing colour and shape.

Alas, they remained exactly how they had been made: infringing the design of US cuddly toymakers Folkmanis Puppets.

Our Yankee friends sought to expose the true colours of the infringing chameleons in the English courts using Godalming-based firm Lochners.

The culprits were ordered to be delivered up, and Lochners gave the 400 chameleons and iguanas to the Royal Surrey County Hospital's children's ward.

'We have grown fond of the puppets, but we are pleased with their new home', said Lochners partner Simon Chapman.
