The personal injury market has continued to consolidate as an established presence was bought up by a rival and an alternative business structure was brought into a firm moving into new regions.

Express Solicitors announced today it has bought Ralli Ltd, based in Sale, Greater Manchester, bringing on board around 40 staff. Employees of Ralli will transfer to the Express headquarters in south Manchester as the firm continues to grow through acquisitions and consolidation of the PI market.

Ralli Solicitors LLP, a separate company which offers services in areas of law other than personal injury, continues to trade in Manchester city centre and is not affected by the acquisition.

Express Solicitors said the deal ensures continuity for clients while providing access to the resources, technology and expertise of a larger company.

James Maxey, chief executive of Express Solicitors, said: ‘We are delighted to welcome the talented Ralli personal injury team to Express Solicitors. Ralli has a long-established reputation in the UK and international legal market, making this an excellent strategic fit for both firms.

‘As two firms with deep roots in Manchester, we share a commitment to delivering exceptional service and achieving the best possible outcomes for clients. We are pleased to be bringing together such experienced teams and look forward to working with our new colleagues as we continue to grow and strengthen our personal injury offering.’

Ralli has been operating for more than 50 years and has clients across the Greater Manchester region and beyond.

Annual accounts for Ralli Ltd, covering the year ended June 2025, show pre-tax profit of £391,000 on revenue of around £3.8m. The business had net assets of more than £4.3m.

Martin Coyne, managing director at Ralli Ltd, said: ‘We have built a strong reputation for providing expert legal support and securing positive outcomes for those who have suffered injury through no fault of their own. Joining Express Solicitors enables our people and our clients to benefit from the scale, resources and specialist expertise of a firm that shares our commitment to excellent client care and access to justice.’

In the past 18 months alone, Express Solicitors has acquired Aegis Legal Ltd, Recovery Assist, Graham Coffey & Co and HNK Solicitors.

The firm now has more than 1,000 staff and reported turnover of £65m for the year ended August 2025.

Meanwhile, another personal injury specialist with strategy of acquiring work and assets from other firms has announced its latest move.

Minster Law will open its first Cardiff office after buying the existing portfolio of employers’ liability claims from RCN Law. The agreement follows Minster’s appointment nine months ago to handle new personal injury claims for members of the Royal College of Nursing. It brings the existing cases previously retained by RCN Law, the alternative business structure established with NewLaw, into Minster Law.

The Cardiff office is intended to serve as a hub for both transferring colleagues and Minster’s existing team across the region who work remotely.

The acquisition is Minster’s second in recent months, following its acquisition of ARAG’s personal injury business.

Shirley Woolham, chief executive of Minster Law, said: ‘Our relationship with the RCN is already well established, and taking on these existing cases is a natural next step. Bringing experienced colleagues into Minster helps retain the knowledge and expertise that matter to members, supported by the resources of a national specialist personal injury firm.

‘Opening in Cardiff is also a clear statement of our commitment to Wales and the Southwest. We already have talented colleagues across the region. This gives them a shared base and creates a home for more people to build their careers with Minster as we grow.’
