Computers and law seeks solicitors for 2001 awards
The Society for Computers and Law is looking for nominees for its annual award for 2001.The award, for the most outstanding application of information technology to the law in the UK and Ireland, has existed since 1989.
This year it was won by Peterborough solicitor Neil Davidson, creator of the Virtual Solicitors Chambers, which allows smaller firms to use a central office facility through their IT systems.
The panel of judges will be chaired by Andrew Levison, head of UK and Europe consulting services at Baker Robbins & Company.
According to Mr Levison, the last year has seen 'lots of interesting major projects in legal IT, particularly Web-enabled products'.
Next year's award will be presented at the Law Society by minister David Lock MP.
The panel of judges includes David Cannell, IT director at Hammonds Suddards Edge, Jane Henderson, know-how systems manager at Macfarlanes, and Edward Fennell, a legal writer with The Times.
