Continental lull

Eversheds in the UK can rightly claim to be a very on-the-ball type of of law firm, and its marketing efforts often reflect this.

Sadly, this admirable approach has not crossed the channel, to judge by a list sent in last week of 36 deals finalised by the firm's Paris office over, erm, the last 18 months.

Pleasing though it must have been to complete a FF74 million acquisition in January 2001, it's not newsworthy now.

Add to this the fact that French bar rules mean that no client names can be mentioned and the list is possibly the most useless piece of information put out by a law firm in ages, and that, as Obiter watchers will know, is saying something.
