Conveyancing millstone: Not too long ago, Obiter had some fun at the expense of Manchester firm James Chapman & Co, which went somewhat overboard on the fact that it had managed to complete a client's residential conveyancing transaction (he was an international swimmer who needed no distractions etcetera).
And now, remarkably, regional firm Shoosmiths and estate agents Connells are at it, easily winning this week's 'so what?' award.
Endless guff has been sent to us celebrating the 10,000th transaction completed through Connells' conveyancing service, for which Shoosmiths is one of the partner law firms.
The, erm, lucky 10,000th customer, the Clargo family, received champagne and a bouquet of flowers (they were probably hoping that Connells might knock a bit off their fees, but, unsurprisingly, no luck there), as well as the chance to star in this engaging photograph with Richard Montague Jones of Connells (left) and Shoosmiths' conveyancer Jennifer Cartledge (right).
Our attitude to the achievement that a law firm has handled someone's conveyancing in an efficient way is best summed up, we feel, by the little Scout's facial expression.
