Cook-ing up a story
The City lawyers who make up the new specialist insurance firm Williams Holden Cooklin Gibbons are excited by the prospect, it's fair to say (see [2002] Gazette, 18 April, 9).
A press release burbling with enthusiasm about the practice was spiced up with a commentary on the people involved.
New Zealand-born rugby fanatic Antony Holden is described with some fondness by lead partner Hugh Williams as 'a wise head on a pair of particularly muscular shoulders', while Nicholas Gibbons, apparently, is a 'genuine tall forehead' - which means he's either clever or just odd to look at.
We are not spared yet more personal detail.
Mr Holden's girlfriend had returned recently to New Zealand to pursue her studies, but now that he's presumably got a bit of the equity, she's back and they are planning to get married.
Mr Holden comments mysteriously: 'I've crammed a couple of years or more into the last few months.' And it goes on: 'Gibbons recently bought a humble ("very humble") abode in the forests close to Rouen in Normandy, but "won't be seeing much of that for a while".' Poor chap.
