I must write to clarify an aspect of your interview with me, 'Woolf predicts voluntary part to practising fee' (see [2006] Gazette, 3 August, 1).



What I would like to make clear is that the Society may, in future, offer additional, opt-in services that would attract a fee. These would typically be services of benefit to particular parts of the profession.



Funds collected with the practising certificate fee will remain core to the future funding of the work that the Law Society undertakes on behalf of the entire profession.
