In a recent article on the fast-track asylum system (see [2006] Gazette, 12 October, 1), we incorrectly quoted Matthew Davies as referring to the means test for legal aid, rather than the merits test. The quote should have read: 'The real issue is that the LSC should not be imposing a merits test for fast-track appeals, where everything is weighted against the appellant.' All detainees meet the means test.
