Counting courtrooms in Chorley
It is always rewarding to see how our elected representatives spend our money, and some of the stranger or seemingly pointless questions they ask ministers can be particular fun.
Take Lindsay Hoyle, the Labour MP for Chorley, who recently fired off a series of written questions to the Lord Chancellor's Department about Chorley Magistrates' Court.
Often, MPs' questions about magistrates' courts reflect concern over potential closures and the like, but Mr Hoyle's seem the kind that might have been better addressed to the person who runs the court rather than a government minister, such as: 'How many courtrooms are available in Chorley?' Indeed, dare we suggest that perhaps Mr Hoyle might even pop into the court to see for himself next time he's back?
