CPS praises work promoting equality

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) this week saw three winners clinch prizes in its first awards recognising initiatives aimed at promoting equality and diversity within the service.

The prize for best human resources initiative went to Gwent CPS for its race equality measures, which included loaning staff to the local race equality council.

South Wales CPS clinched the award for increasing community awareness through visits to schools and colleges.

The homophobic crime working group came top for its conduct of cases and public policy statement.

Relatives of CPS administrator Ainsley Heaton, who died earlier this year, picked up a special posthumous award for work on disability issues.
