Most egg-shaped deal: Manchester firm James Chapman & Co advised rugby league legend Andy Farrell on his switch to rugby union and a three-year contract with Saracens, which was advised by chief executive Mark Sinderberry.



Windiest deal: City firm Norton Rose has advised Renewable Energy Systems on the ¤225 million (£155 million) financing of the Astraeus portfolio of wind farms, which has operations in the UK, the Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and France. Magic circle firm Linklaters advised the banks, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi, BNP Paribas and the Royal Bank of Canada.



Most star-studded deal: Media firm Harbottle & Lewis advised Simon Fuller on the sale of 19 Entertainment to US group Sports Entertainment Enterprises (SEE) in a cash-and-stock deal worth £100 million. 19 Entertainment owns the 'Pop Idol' format and its recording artists include Will Young and Rachel Stevens. The London office of Baker & McKenzie advised SEE.



Best housed deal: City firm Trowers & Hamlins advised Wakefield Metropolitan District Council in the pre-ballot period on the transfer of 32,000 council homes in the West Yorkshire area to not-for-profit organisation Wakefield and District Housing, England's largest transfer of council housing to a single organisation. Leeds firm Walker Morris advised the council after the tenants were balloted, when Trowers & Hamlins advised Wakefield and District Housing.



Zestiest deal: City firm Charles Russell advised music publishing and recording company Zest Group on its admission to the Alternative Investment Market and an associated £580,000 fundraising. National firm Eversheds advised broker WH Ireland.



Creepiest, crawliest deal: Nottingham firm Browne Jacobson advised marketing and communications company Tarantula International on the sale of its UK and Japanese businesses to the WPP Group for an undisclosed sum. National firm Hammonds advised WPP.
