Most astronomical deal: City firm Park Nelson represented Asda Wal-Mart on its 53 million disposal of the Orbital shopping park in Swindon to British Land, advised by Maxwell Batley.Most seaworthy deal: Denton Wilde Sapte acted for yachts-woman Tracy Edwards on the purchase of the catamaran Maiden Two from Club Med, which was represented by in-house counsel.
The yacht, worth an estimated 3 million, will be used to try to break the record for sailing around the world, which currently stands at 71 days.Most organic deal: Blackburn firm Taylors acted for organic compounds manufacturer Avocado on its 25 million sale to Johnson Matthey's research chemicals business, advised in-house.Most shocking deal: DLA represented Alfred McAlpine in its joint venture with electricity giant Scottish Power to create Core Utility Solutions - the UK's first multi-utility service provider.
Scottish Power was advised by Edinburgh firm Shepherd & Wedderburn.Most soiled deal: Nottingham-based Browne Jacobson acted for English Nature in halting commercial peat extraction from three UK conservation sites.
As part of the agreement, the government will pay 17.3 million to the owners of the peat, The Scotts Company, advised by south-west firm Clarke Willmott & Clarke.Healthiest deal: West country law firm Bevan Ashford acted for Hereford Primary Care Trust and Hereford Council as they joined to form a pioneering partnership with private nursing care specialist Blanchford Care for an undisclosed sum.
Cheltenham firm Rickerby Watterson advised Blanchford.Most genetic deal: The Oxford office of Manches advised Oxford Gene Technology on the multi-million pound merger of its DNA microarray business with anti-infective company Arrow Therapeutics, advised by US firm Arnold & Porter.Tastiest deal: CMS Cameron McKenna acted for Nestl on its proposed acquisition of Northern Foods' 'Ski' yoghurt and 'Munch Bunch' fromage frais business, worth an estimated 145 million.
Ashurst Morris Crisp represented Northern Food.Most odds-on deal: Olswang advised Sporttech on its strategic partnership with ITV to provide interactive betting and gaming services to the broadcast company's digital services for an undisclosed sum.
