Most punishing deal: City firm Lewis Silkin advised Irish developer Edward Holdings on its acquisition of Bow Street Magistrates' Court and police station for an undisclosed sum from the Department for Constitutional Affairs and the Metropolitan Police. The building - whose prisoners have included Oscar Wilde, Dr Crippen and Reggie Kray - will be redeveloped into a hotel, offices and a museum. City firm Druces & Attlee acted for the Metropolitan Police.
Spiciest deal: The Godalming office of Penningtons acted for the Gordon family on the sale of Gordon's Fine Foods to British Pepper & Spice (BPS) for an undisclosed sum. Gordon's Fine Foods manufactures premium condiments and sauces, under its own name and for retailers such as Marks & Spencer, Waitrose and Harrods. Belfast firm L'Estrange & Brett acted for BPS.
Fiercest deal: London firm Olswang acted for Los Angeles-based Lions Gate on its acquisition of UK film distributor Redbus for $35 million (£20 million). Redbus, which was advised by City firm Slaughter and May, has rights to 130 films including 'Bend It Like Beckham' and 'Jeepers Creepers'.
Most dramatic deal: City firm Ashurst is advising the Really Useful Group on Andrew Lloyd Webber's agreement to buy the 50% share of Really Useful Theatres owned by its joint venture partner Bridgepoint Capital. Theatres in the portfolio include the London Palladium, the Theatre Royal Drury Lane and the Adelphi. City firm Travers Smith is acting for Bridgepoint.
Windiest deal: National firm Eversheds has advised on the applications for development consent for what would be the first offshore wind farm in international waters: the 500-megawatt Greater Gabbard farm, located 25 kilometres off the coast of Suffolk. The applications to the Department for Trade & Industry, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and Suffolk Coastal District Council were made by a joint venture between Irish renewables developer Airtricity and construction company Fluor. City firm Linklaters is advising on the financing of the project.
Brightest deal: South-west firm Foot Anstey advised Lighthouse Group on its acquisition of independent financial adviser Carrwood Barker and a £3.1 million fundraising. The Manchester office of Eversheds and Leeds firm Walker Morris advised various vendors, while City firm Memery Crystal acted for broker Daniel Stewart.
