Most olde worlde deal: London firm Howard Kennedy acted for Jamview on its acquisition of the Ye Harte & Garter Hotel in Windsor for more than £9 million. The original inn was the setting for a scene in Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor. Milton Keynes firm Kimbells advised the seller, Spirit Group Retail.


Most productive deal: The London office of US firm Jones Day and Scottish firm Stronachs advised independent oil and gas company Venture Production on a £325 million borrowing base debt facility underwritten by the Royal Bank of Scotland, which was advised by City firm Denton Wilde Sapte and Scottish firm Maclay Murray & Spens.


Shiniest deal: Regional firm Cobbetts advised Russian gold miner Highland Gold on the advancement of $13 million (£7.3 million) by Toronto-based Barrick Gold Corporation. The money will be used to fund expenditure on a mining project in Taseevskoye in Russia. Canadian firm Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg acted for Barrick.


Most sporting deal: London firm Mishcon de Reya acted for the major shareholder in ISC Entertainment on the disposal of its gaming site marketing business to Sportingbet for $39 million (£22 million). City firm Ashurst acted for Sportingbet.


Most gaseous deal: City firm Denton Wilde Sapte acted for Gazprom Marketing & Trading on the negotiation of master sales and purchase agreements with Shell and BG. Gazprom is owner of the world's largest gas reserves and the agreements will enable it to participate in the trade of liquefied natural gas into the US market. Shell and BG were advised by their respective in-house teams.


Most sober deal: Newport firm Petersons advised Saltmill on its acquisition of the landmark Elephant and Castle public house in London for £3.2 million. City firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain acted for the finance provider, Allied Irish.


Most bronzed deal: North-west firm Brabners Chaffe Street advised the vendor of Sunquest Tanning Systems, the UK's largest manufacturer of tanning equipment, on a management buy-out for an undisclosed sum. UK/US firm DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary acted for the management team.


Most tongue-twisting deal: National firm Addleshaw Goddard advised Marcus Evans UK on the £3.5 million acquisition of languages business Linguarama International Group from BPP, advised by Denton Wilde Sapte.
