Healthiest deal: Linklaters & Alliance advised Healthcare Management, a consortium of Amec, Balfour Beatty and Building & Property Group, on the 225 million University College London Hospital private finance initiative project, the largest health PFI to date, consolidating four existing hospitals into a new building.
The hospital was advised by Herbert Smith; Denton Wilde Sapte advised Abbey National Treasury Services, main lender to the project.Most sharing deal: Macfarlanes advised advertising and marketing group Cordiant Communications on its 392 million acquisition of Lighthouse Global Network, in exchange for shares in Cordiant.
Lighthouse, an international network of communications and marketing businesses, was advised by SJ Berwin and US firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom.
US firms White & Case and Gould & Wilkie advised Cordiant on US law.Most animated deal: Bristol firm Burges Salmon acted for Orange on its acquisition of Ananova, the world's first animated Internet newscaster service, from the Press Association, advised by Biddle, for 95 million in cash.Most charitable deal: Cobbetts advised pro bono on the establishment of the Tracey Shaw Foundation.
The charity will raise funds to promote education and awareness about eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia.Most legible deal: Ashurst Morris Crisp is acting for academic and scientific publishers Taylor & Francis on its project to make its 17,000 titles available on-line by next year as 'e-books'.
The deal with Israeli-US electronic publisher Versaware, advised in-house, will enable Taylor & Francis to make all its books downloadable within two years.Most on-the-ball deal: Andersen Legal firm Garretts advised on the purchase of Crystal Palace football club by millionaire Simon Jordan.
The club, which went into administration 16 months ago after running up debts of 20 million, was bought from its administrator, advised by Denton Wilde Sapte.
The site freeholder was advised by Dechert, and Edge Ellison acted for the Football League.
