Fastest deal: Bristol firm TLT advised Iotron Industries Canada on the sale of its UK commercial particle accelerator subsidiary Ebis Iotron to Isotron for £2.5 million. Ebis Iotron runs electron and ion particle accelerators used in the sterilisation of single-use medical equipment, the processing of power semi-conductors and the enhancement of colour in gemstones. Swindon firm Clark Holt acted for Isotron.

Most fashionable deal: London firm Glovers acted for Just Jamie on its merger with Fifth Avenue and new banking facilities worth £11.5 million. The two businesses supply ladies' skirts and jackets to retailers such as Arcadia and BHS. City firm Berwin Leighton Paisner advised the shareholders of Fifth Avenue, while national firm Addleshaw Goddard acted for 3i on the disposal of its interest in Fifth Avenue. City firm CMS Cameron McKenna acted for Lloyds TSB.


Most portable deal: London firm Marriott Harrison acted for ACTA, an Italian company, on its admission to the Alternative Investment Market and an associated £9 million placing. ACTA has developed a platinum-free catalyst that runs on ethanol (alcohol), which it believes will enable the development of mass-market fuel cells, particularly for use in portable devices. London firm Nabarro Nathanson advised Numis, the broker and nominated adviser.


Express deal: City firm Ashurst advised transport group National Express on its merger with Alsa, the operator of coach and bus services in Spain. The £500 million deal brings together two of Europe's largest bus operators. City firm Linklaters acted for Alsa.


Most innovative deal: City firm Richards Butler acted for Amphion Innovations on its admission to the Alternative Investment Market and an associated £5 million placing. Isle of Man-based Amphion helps finance and develop life sciences and technology companies in partnership with businesses, governments, universities and entrepreneurs. City firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert acted for nominated adviser Nabarro Wells and broker Westhouse Securities. Isle of Man firm Cains and US firm Proskauer Rose also advised Amphion.
