Most mobile deal: The London office of US firm Shearman & Sterling is advising Nokia on the merger of its communications service provider business with that operated by Siemens. The combined turnover in 2005 of the two businesses, which employ 60,000 people, was 15.8 billion euro (£10.8 billion). City giant Clifford Chance is acting for Siemens.
Most striking deal: Niche sports business law firm Couchman Harrington advised SFX Sports Group and Andriy Shevchenko on the Ukraine footballer's transfer from Italian club AC Milan to Chelsea. Manchester firm IPS Law advised Chelsea.
Most inspired deal: US/UK firm Reed Smith advised the Inspired Gaming Group on its admission to the Alternative Investment Market and an associated placing. The company, which is a leading player in the UK server-based gaming market, listed with a market capitalisation of £115 million. City firm Norton Rose advised broker Evolution.
Most opportune deal: London firm Nabarro Nathanson advised Frogmore Property Company on the creation of a £1 billion opportunity fund to invest in UK property. The deal raised £330 million of equity from global investors. Goodwin Procter acted as US counsel.
Most sparkling deal: City firm Ashurst advised a consortium of investors on the management buy-in of David Morris Stores, the luxury watch and jewellery retail business that has operations in Selfridges and Harvey Nichols. City firm Berwin Leighton Paisner advised the vendor, while national firm Addleshaw Goddard acted for debt provider the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Most colourful deal: North-west firm DWF advised the UK shareholders of ColorMatrix, the world's largest manufacturer of liquid colourants and additive concentrates for thermoplastic products, on a multi-million pound investment by US private equity group Audax. City firm Ashurst advised Audax.
Most resolute deal: City firm Herbert Smith is advising Resolution on its acquisition of the UK and offshore life insurance businesses of Abbey National for £3.6 billion. Allen & Overy is advising joint sponsors Citigroup and Goldman Sachs, while Slaughter and May is acting for Abbey.
