Best-equipped deal: Northampton firm Howes Percival advised Alistair Flanagan, founder of the ETI Group, on the sale of the company to its management for £25 million. ETI provides overhead line equipment and services to the rail and tram industries. The Cardiff office of national firm Eversheds advised the management team, while City firm Linklaters acted for Hermes Private Equity, which backed the deal.
Crispiest deal: Birmingham and London firm Wragge & Co is advising Leicester Football Club (owner of the Leicester Tigers rugby team) on its proposed joint venture with Leicester City Football Club to acquire the Walkers Stadium. Under the deal, the rugby and football clubs will jointly own a new company, which will own the 32,000 capacity stadium.
Most on-the-ball deal: South-west firm Foot Anstey Sargent has advised Kevin Heaney, managing director of Cornish Homes (UK), on a deal with the trustees of Truro City Football Club which will seem him lease the ground, pay off its debts and take over the running of the club. Truro firm Hancock Caffin advised the trustees, while Cornish firm Nalders acted for the club.
Greatest deal: City firm Nabarro Nathanson has acted for Great Portland Estates (GPE) on a deal with Henderson Global Investor's Central London Office Fund, which saw the sale and acquisition of three properties. GPE has agreed to sell Barnard's Inn in Fetter Lane and 38 Finsbury Square to Henderson for net proceeds of £56 million, while acquiring in return the freehold interest of Ellerman House in Camomile Street for £19.5 million. City firm Nicholson Graham & Jones acted for Henderson.
Best supported deal: City firm Linklaters advised Phoenix IT on its initial public offering and a global offer of shares that valued the IT support services company at £132 million. City firm Macfarlanes acted for private equity house Alchemy, which sold its stake in the company, while City firm Herbert Smith advised the global co-ordinator UBS.
Most outdoor deal: Regional firm Cobbetts advised outdoor equipment company Leicester Swiss Cutlery on the acquisition of a majority stake in Bridgedale Outdoor, owner of the Bridgedale brand of performance socks and the Montgomery outdoor clothing range, for an undisclosed sum. Nottingham firm Browne Jacobson advised the selling shareholders.
