Most celluloid deal: London firm Campbell Hooper advised the shareholders of film and TV distributor Optimum Releasing on its sale to French company StudioCanal for £18 million. Films that Optimum Releasing has distributed include Michael Moore's documentary 'Fahrenheit 9/11'. The London office of US firm Weil Gotshal & Manges advised StudioCanal.
Most informative deal: London firm Lawrence Graham acted for Wilmington Group, the owner of legal training business CLT and publisher of Solicitors Journal, on its proposed merger with Metal Bulletin, the international business information group. The combined market capitalisation of the businesses - to be known as Bulletin Group - will be approximately £300 million. City firm Richards Butler advised Metal Bulletin.
Ruffest deal: The Manchester office of national firm Hammonds advised the management of Pets at Home on a £288 million refinancing package. The deal will see the pet foods and accessories supplier return £100 million to shareholders. City firm Travers Smith advised Pets at Home, while Ashurst acted for finance provider Royal Bank of Scotland.
Most jet-powered deal: Yorkshire firm McCormicks advised the shareholders of Just Trays on a management buy-out of the shower trays company for an undisclosed sum. The Birmingham office of Anglo-Scottish firm HBJ Gateley Wareing advised Gresham Private Equity, which backed the deal, while Newcastle firm Robert Muckle acted for Just Trays' management.
Most hand-picked deal: Harrogate firm Davidson Webber acted for luxury hotel group Hand Picked Hotels on the multi-million pound sale of the Mollington Banastre hotel and leisure spa in Chester to Brook Hotels, advised by the Manchester office of Halliwells.
