Steel deal: South-west firm Bevan Brittan acted for Gwent Healthcare NHS Trust on a project to build a £97 million state-of-the-art hospital with single en-suite rooms for every patient, on the site of the former Ebbw Vale Steelworks in South Wales. The firm advised on the development agreement, property purchase, and warranties and leasing package. National firm Eversheds advised Blaenau Gwent council.


Handshake deal: City firm Taylor Wessing acted for Portrait Software on its £5 million purchase of Norwegian dialogue marketing software company Million Handshakes. Oslo-based Selmer Advokatfirma advised on the Norwegian aspects.

Noble deal: London and Thames Valley firm Pitmans acted for Noble House Securities in a 50/50 joint property venture with Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBoS) to undertake acquisition and development projects in the residential market. Scottish firm Dundas & Wilson advised HBoS.



Belting deal: City firm Norton Rose acted for corporate broker Hoare Govett in a share-placing deal to raise £36.5 million for industrial belt producer Fenner plc, through an accelerated bookbuild to institutional investors. City firm Nabarro acted for Fenner.



Fair deal: City firm Macfarlanes acted for trade acquirer HIS International on the £40 million acquisition of the entire share capital of Prime Publications, which holds a 50% stake in maritime information company Lloyd's Register Fairplay. Yorkshire-headquartered Gordons acted for the vendors.



Tasty deal: London firm Nellen acted for Ricker Restaurants (Holdings) on its cash and share-for-share purchase of five London restaurant companies. South-east firm Thomas Eggar acted for HSBC which funded the cash element.



Healthy deal: London firm Capsticks advised Nuffield Hospitals on a £22 million joint venture with local doctors for the development of a new private hospital and clinic which is the first private healthcare development in Wales. South Wales and southern England firm Morgan Cole acted for the doctors.
