Little deal: National firm Pinsent Masons advised nursery operator kidsunlimited on its sale to the management team in a secondary buyout backed by private equity firm LDC, advised by national firm Addleshaw Goddard. Yorkshire's Walker Morris acted for the management.
Start-up deal: City firm Nabarro advised i2india Holdings on raising £1.7 million in seed funding from investors including CMG Partners, also advised by Nabarro, and Imperial Innovations, advised by their own in-house counsel. i2india was also advised by Indian firm Majumdar & Co on Indian aspects. The company will help Indian institutions capitalise on their underexploited intellectual property.
Educational deal: London firm Mischon de Reya advised Amteus, a provider of private and secure software to the education and business sectors, on its £1.8 million secondary AIM fundraising and its £180,000 debt capitalisation. City firm Nabarro advised John East & Partners, the nominated adviser and broker.
Tasty deal: US firm Mayer Brown advised private equity fund Langholm Capital on its acquisition of Tyrrells Potato Chips. City firm HBJ Gateley Wareing acted for Tyrrells' founder and regional firm Cobbetts acted for its management team.
Creditable deal: Magic circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer advised Barclays Bank on its £35 million acquisition of the UK credit card business of Discover Financial Services, which includes the Goldfish brand. Scottish firm Maclay Murray & Spens also advised Barclays and US firm Sidley Austin acted for Discover.
Energy deal: London firm Wallace advised AIM-listed oil and gas company TomCo Energy on the acquisition of interest in two oil field production licences in Israel from Avenue Group. TomCo made an institutional placing of its shares to raise £1 million for the deal and issued a convertible loan note to Trafalgar Capital Specialised Investment fund for €1 million (£797,000). Israeli firm Gross Kleinhendler Hodak Berkman & Co advised TomCo in Israel and City firm Memery Crystal advised Trafalgar.
Technology deal: Thames Valley firm Pitmans acted for the founder shareholder of Berkshire fibre optic communications company Fibre Technologies Holdings in a £4 million secondary management buy-out of a 75% holding in the company.
