The most disheartening aspect of practising personal injury work over the last decade has been the trend towards profit from injury. The attempt to reduce costs and improve the process of pursuing claims has resulted in profiteering in some quarters. Everyone wants a cut - claims farmers, advertisers and some solicitors. Stop referral fees and tacky advertisements, curtail this ugly industry, and let solicitors (and other regulated professionals) practise properly and efficiently in a procedurally predictive and streamlined system that will ensure that the claimant is properly advised. The costs will become more proportionate, the client will see earlier results, and the hangers-on will disappear because there would be no profit for them.
